People think focus means saying yes to the thing you’ve got to focus on. But that’s not what it means at all. It means saying no to the hundred other good ideas.

Product management is more than a role —
it’s a craft of curiosity, creativity, and leadership.

Thinking in Product is where I share lessons from my personal and professional journey: building better products, growing stronger teams, and aligning great ideas to real business outcomes.

From agile development and design-driven practices to stakeholder leadership and the evolving role of AI, I write about the tools, challenges, and experiences that shape thoughtful product management.

If that sounds like your kind of conversation, subscribe and let's keep thinking in product — together.

Mike Amburn Dixon

Over the last three decades, I've helped organizations and teams turn ideas into products that not only work, but resonate — products that feel intuitive, useful, and empowering. With a background in cognitive science, I’ve always been drawn to understanding how people think, decide, and interact with the world around them. Product management became the perfect home for that curiosity: a discipline where empathy, design, strategy, and execution meet to create real impact.

Throughout my journey, I’ve learned that how we work together matters just as much as what we build. Transparency, open communication, and building trust across every stakeholder — these aren't just good practices; they're the foundation of enduring success.

At the heart of it all, my passion is simple: building products that solve real problems, and building teams that are proud of what they create — and how they create it..
